Zety researchers analyzed over 800 occupations using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the O*NET Work Styles database, focusing on five criteria:

• Median salary of $50,000 or more
• Empathy score of 80+ on O*NET’s “Concern for Others” trait (Interpersonal Orientation)
• Faster-than-average job growth
• Roles within stable or essential industries
• Resistance to AI automation due to emotional labor and human-centered tasks

1. Salary threshold: Only roles paying $50,000 or more were included.
2. Empathy score: Jobs needed a score of 80+ on O*NET’s “Concern for Others” scale.
3. AI resistance: Roles requiring soft skills, such as emotional labor, critical thinking, and interpersonal judgment, were prioritized.
4. Industry stability: Jobs were selected from stable or essential sectors, such as healthcare, education, and community services.
