How to Write a Job Description For a Server Resume
While employment for servers is predicted to grow at a normal rate, that doesn’t mean that every server gets the job they want. That will be the case if you just note down your server responsibilities like a shopping list. Avoid that by creating the perfect server job description:
1. Make the section heading noticeable
Give your server job description section one of these titles: Work Experience, Experience, Employment History, Work History. Write it in bold or with ALL CAPS. It’s an easy thing to do, but one of the best ways to improve your resume.
2. Put your job description section in the correct place.
If you have several years of professional experience, put it below your resume summary. Otherwise, add it below your education section, especially if you’re writing a resume with no experience.
3. List server job descriptions on your resume in reverse-chronological order.
Begin with the job you have now. Follow it with the previous one, then the one before that, and so on.
4. Make each server job description entry easy to read.
Include your job title, company name and location, dates worked at the top of every server job description. Then, follow them by accurate server resume responsibilities.
5. Use up to 5 bullet points for each server position.
Everyday responsibilities are a little boring to recruiters. Each bullet point should focus on your quantifiable achievements instead. Include the most and most detailed bullet points in your current role. The further back you go in your career, the fewer bullet points you should use.

6. Tailor your server job description to the job ad.
Tailor every job description bullet point to the server responsibilities listed in the job ad. It will make your server job description stand out from generic ones and make for a very ATS-friendly resume.
7. Start each bullet with action verbs.
Make server resume responsibilites a little more compelling with resume action verbs, such as managed, coordinated, developed, implemented, etc.
8. Include a “Key Achievement” subsection.
This little guy attracts a lot of attention. Mention something that you want recruiters to know above all else. Use the Problem-Action-Result (PAR) method to describe your success.

Here’s what else you need to include in a resume:
- Pick the ideal format for your resume. The chronological resume layout is usually the best option since it puts the spotlight on your accomplishments and job experience.
- Write a professional profile. Pick a resume summary if you have more than 2 years of work experience or a resume objective for any other case.
- Make the work experience on your resume compelling. List responsibilities and achievements in 6-7 bullet points. Each bullet should begin with resume action verbs, such as prepared, coordinated, monitored, delivered, etc.
- List your professional certifications and licenses in a separate section to make sure they don’t get overlooked.
- Highlight your relevant job skills (soft skills, hard skills, and technical skills). Make sure to look at the server job description to pick the most relevant skills.
- Include other sections in your resume: language skills, achievements and awards, volunteer experience, and hobbies and interests.
